After the train has passed the Rhine valley and Switzerland via the St. Gotthard it entered Italy on 17 June in the evening. Between 18 June and 15 July the train shuttled 4 times between Milano and Modane (transalpine line) and three times from Milano to Bari in the South of Italy under very hot and dry weather conditions.
The train was able to be operated only in weekends, so about 9,300 km could be achieved.
On 17 July , 18:30 the train returned to Minden again via Switzerland and the Rhine valley after 29 days.
Directly after the return, the measurements of wheels and brake blocks started as usual. Before the next run, the EuropeTrain’s International Analysis Team (IAT) will discuss the results, define further activities and especially decide on the wagons that will participate in the next run. This will be the second run on the French Loop und will start on the 29.07.11 via Gent down to Paris and further to Marseille. On its way passing the Netherlands there will be a press event in Amersfoort on 1 august.
The return is planned for the second half of August.
